Psomagen Acquires Illumina NovaSeq X Plus

Share:

Rockville, Md. — April 4, 2023 — Psomagen has completed installation and onboarding of the NovaSeq X Plus, Illumina’s latest step forward in sequencing machines.

This system uses XLEAP-SBSTM technology, which improves on sequencing by synthesis. The technology offers improved data accuracy and machine performance.

The dual flow cells of the Plus system can produce 16 Tb of data per run, equivalent to 48 genomes or 26 billion reads. The system also includes built-in data analysis, allowing multiple applications to run simultaneously.

"Adding the NovaSeq X Plus is a great way to provide additional savings to our customers," says Matt Kramer, Psomagen's VP of Sales & Marketing. "We're able to provide sequencing with a faster turnaround time and at a lower cost." This savings is reflected in Psomagen's 2023 pricing for WGS, WGBS, lane, and flow cell projects.

Psomagen is a long-time user of Illumina technologies, including the NovaSeq 6000, HiSeq, MiSeq, and iScan systems. Their machines are an important part of our labs' NGS, transcriptomics, epigenomics, metagenomics, and proteomics services. The NovaSeq X Plus will first be used for WGS and whole-genome bisulfite epigenomics applications, before being applied to WES and other project types. "We're very excited to have the machine so early in its release," says Kramer. "We're working with cutting-edge technology, and we can't wait to see what discoveries our customers make this year."

The NovaSeq X Plus is the first of several new technologies coming to Psomagen labs in 2023. A full list of new machines can be found on our New Technologies page.
